It's amazing to me how powerful intentional Christian community can be. When Jesus is involved in missional movement, people's hearts are changed in huge, huge ways. It's sometimes unreal to think of the church in Acts 2 with its people breaking bread together and sharing everything in common:

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

What would that look like today in 'postmodern' 21st century USA?

Big, I think.

Could God really provide for his people in America --in this state, on this campus, among our communities-- in such ways that daily the number of those loving and serving Jesus increases...that multiplication of not only believers, but faith, occurs? That people really understand the gospel and its vital, refreshing message and are moved toward truly purpose-driven lives?

It seems as though, because of our steady stream of focus on personal growth with the Lord, we often don't have the chance to fully grasp the ways in which God will build his church --his body-- right in front of our active American lives. I think that we can have big-time hope, though, knowing that he is not only in the business of changing hearts, but stretching out his arms and moving his people toward him while still commissioning them to this world with "life-is-now...in-me" words. Wow.

I hope you will join with me in praying for missional community for our campuses, towns, nation and world. To demonstrate God's grace through knowing, serving and loving his son -- to live lives rooted in character, integrity and purpose...to join with God in his gathering of the broken-hearted and weary. He's doing big things in this world -- exciting stuff.

Love you guys.
